COVID - 19

The Pandemic

Last year I was enthralled with Avengers-end game and just couldn't stop applauding the Russo brothers. They did a pretty good job with the movie. As I was glued to the screen at the beginning of the movie I saw Hawk Eye losing his family just out of thin air. I wondered, I wondered what if someone like Thanos turns up one day and just snaps his fingers and BAM ! Half of the Earth's population is done and dusted, and today almost a year later this thought has come back to my mind !

Covid-19 is an infectious disease caused by a virus which creates severe issues to the respiratory system and can be at times fatal. The disease was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan,China and since then it has spread all around the globe. It has been just four months and already Twelve Lakh people are affected with the disease and unfortunately Sixty four thousand people have lost their lives. Twelve Lakh people ! that is 0.01 % of the worlds population! Is it the nature's way of holding the gauntlet and snapping the fingers ? Who knows ?

The year 2020 has been remarkably gloomy, to start of with there was Australian bush fires, the Brazilian floods and mudslides, Storm hitting the south east of the United States, melting of the Himalayan Glaciers, the Taal volcanic eruption with 25 other eruptions, earthquakes in Iran-Turkey and now the Corona Virus. Our planet Earth has not faced so many problems at a single moment for quiet a while now and things doesn't seem to wither away either. Whenever my computer hangs or stops working or may be like my cellphone when it stops to respond the first step what I do is just restart the device. Living in India it has become a standard protocol- if something ceases to work just hit the restart button and things will be back to normal. May be the global disasters happening all over is the Nature's way of hitting the re-start button. Who knows?

Well I can't blame the thought but its dawn and half past 6 right now while I type this article. I can hear music, I can hear symphonies. No, its not the Dubstep or hip hop or alternative rock. Its the Dawn Chorus! Its the birds ! The Cocks crowing, the crows cawing, the sparrows chirping, the pigeons cooing and the cuckoo is just adding beat altogether . Its been 3 years I have been living in this city of Bangalore and never have I ever heard this music.

Recently I read an article which stated that the concentration of PM 2.5(Particulate matter) in Delhi has plunged to a whooping 71% that too in the span of a week that is falling from 91 micro gram/cubic meter on March 20th to 26 micro gram/cubic meter on March 27th after the Lockdown started. Ideally it should be 25 micro as per WHO. Just yesterday I read another article saying the residents of Jalandhar(Punjab) were able to witness the lesser Himalayan Ranges for the first time after ages ! FYI the distance between Jalandhar and the Dhauladhar range lies at a distance of 213 km !! The amazement of the people in Jalandhar were easily seen in the social media sites as well with the clear picture of the view. A Malabar large-spotted civet which was thought to be extinct or near extinction was found roaming around in the streets of Kerala a news channel stated with a video of it. Recently veteran Bollywood actress Juhi Chawal took it to twitter about a video of Dolphins showing up off the shore Mumbai near the Breach Candy Club ! Now these are instances within India but trust me globally, except for human beings all the animals are having a pretty great time. As until 2020 it was vice-versa !

Its been two weeks now since the Lockdown started in India and there have been rumors of extending it. Italy being a nation of 6 Crore people faced such an adversity, I can't imagine a country of 1.3 Billion could go through if things get worse. Its just upon ourselves. We owe it to those brave doctors and nurses, some of them even sacrificed their lives. Those brave Policemen who are doing their job asking citizens to stay home. The Indian government is doing its best, we just have to support them and stay inside our homes till we bring down this virus together because we need not be the avengers here, just bringing down Thanos before it snaps the fingers could just work it out !
Who knows ?!

Favorite Cricketing shot ?!

Favorite Cricketing shot ?! In cricket when people ask me what is your favorite shot, a lot of shots come into my mind there is the Square cut, there is the hook shot, there is leg glance and now-a-days players are inventing their own shots with this new era of T20 cricket coming up. But for me there is only one shot, the CLASSIC COVER DRIVE ! You can not explain the feeling in words when it comes to this shot. The enjoyment you get at that one moment when everything is perfect ! From everything I mean : The foot to the pitch of the ball, the follow through after the shot is played, the balance of your body, your head and eyes inclined to the line of the bat, The spot at which the ball is hit on the bat and finally the timing !! If all of these aspects come into place at one moment, you get to see the perfect cover drive. If you ask me I could suggest you just one man who plays it perfectly. According to me it is non other than the great Sachin Tendulkar ! They say when u see

Greatest Footballer of all time ?

Greatest Footballer of all time ? Whenever I am surrounded by Soccer followers we discuss so much about the game. We discuss about teams, about managers, about shots, about transfers about players but I don't know somehow in the end we happen to start an argument or a fierce debate on who is the best player or who is the greatest footballer of all time. Does it ever happen to you ?! I bet it does always ! There have been times when I have seen two best friends having fights and ultimately end up not talking to each other just because one said Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player and the other said NO it is Lionel Messi ! Well I don't believe in distinguishing players with good better or best, but as the famous Bollywood Actress once said "it is her choice", just kidding. Well yes its up to one's choice and belief whom you regard as the best because I believe every player is best in his/her own way ! So for me if you ask, it is none other than LIO
